2020 Art

The works I have selected consists different narratives under a political situation: Ridiculousness and suppression. Every work conveys a reflection that parallels with updated news from Hk. In most of these works, they contain a range of information. (similar to a person flooded with discussions about the news on Twitter).

   In a way, the characters are making direct “statements” and meanings. However, under the surface of all the information lays a series of emotions which are yet to unpack. The selection of works dwells into the idea of manipulating with the feeling of unease and irony. ( Imagine yourself having candy that said it should be sweet but turns out to be bitter.) Vibrant and sweet colours leaving a bitter after taste.

 

   One may notice the drawings I present has a character and all of them bears a voice. At the same time it bears a crowd of people who are resisting against the authority. Everyone shares a unique story and perspective, yet every person in the group is valid. Just like every character and detail in the drawings. They are irreplaceable.

   Every drawn frame presents a dialogue, an identity, something that they hold on tight.
